Cornette is Chapel Factory’s olfactory portrait. Since its very beginnings, Chapel Factory has drawn inspiration from the woman in the cornette painted by Rogier van der Weyden around 1435, one of the absolute masterpieces of Flemish painting. Her diaphanous face emerges from the darkness, suspended between spirituality and rigorous geometry – and here it becomes olfactory matter.

The opening belongs to a white incense, matte and chalky, rising like a mineral veil. At the heart, a plant musk reveals the silent, magnetic strength of the gaze – a discreet yet irresistible presence. In the base, a trail of white benzoin and sandalwood prolongs and deepens the aura of the portrait, amplifying the monochrome character of the cornette.

The enigmatic element of the painting, the cornette – a headdress of stiffened linen veils shaped into architectural forms – was a symbol of rank, discipline and purity in Flemish painting. Its pale, almost spectral material seems to absorb light and return it as a milky, silent, ethereal presence. It is precisely this tension between formal rigour and transcendence that the fragrance captures, translating it into an essential, contemplative, luminous trail.

The olfactory journey of Chapel Factory Cornette opens with styrax and violet leaf. At the heart, ambrette, incense wood, plant musk and sage reveal the true character of the composition, before a base of white benzoin and sandalwood leaves a lasting, meditative trail on the skin – a quiet ritual renewed with every wear.
